Chef Assaf Granit Apologizes for Limited Pita Supply at New Shawarma Spot

The story · English

Chef Assaf Granit, known for his work with the Machneyuda group, recently opened a new shawarma restaurant called "HaPita." Despite high demand, only about 100 pitas were available each day, leaving many customers disappointed after arriving too late to purchase one. The limited quantity was not due to long lines but rather the complex preparation process.

On his Instagram account, Granit apologized to customers and explained that the iconic chef Eliezer, responsible for the shawarma, is carefully crafting the pita "wheel" through a multi-day process involving seasoning, marinating, assembling, and resting. This intricate method means the pita portions feel smaller than expected, but Granit promised to increase the size once Eliezer is satisfied with the quality.

Granit encouraged customers to arrive early and be patient, emphasizing that the shawarma pita is worth the wait. He also highlighted the unique inclusion of kubbeh (a Middle Eastern dumpling) inside the pita, adding to its appeal. The chef's message concluded with a warm invitation to enjoy the dish despite the current limitations.

The new shawarma spot has sparked conversation about whether customers would take the risk of arriving early to secure one of the limited pitas, reflecting the high interest in Granit's culinary ventures.
