Chef Assaf Granit Claims Viral Pita-Eating Contest Loss

Renowned Israeli chef Assaf Granit, known for his Jerusalem restaurant empire including Machneyuda and Michelin-starred Shabour in Paris, as well as his role as a judge on cooking shows, has humorously declared himself the loser of a viral pita-eating contest. The contest, held at his new shawarma establishment, involved participants attempting to eat as many pitas as possible.

Granit documented the aftermath in a social media story, engaging in a playful argument with his camerawoman about the video's success. He pointed out that the "ridiculous pita challenge" video had garnered over half a million views. When the camerawoman claimed credit for the video's popularity and asserted she had defeated another competitor in the pita-eating challenge, Granit playfully dismissed her claim.

He questioned her status as a strong "Instagram personality" and challenged her assertion of victory. The camerawoman boasted about being recognized on the street for her win, but Granit refused to concede defeat to her. He argued that she only ate one and a half pitas, stating emphatically, "I lost. You did not defeat me. You did not defeat me."
