Dudu Ohana was arrested in Hadera by the Israeli Tax Authority on suspicion of evading investigation related to distributing fake invoices. The arrest followed a covert operation by the Customs and VAT Investigations Unit in Beersheba, alongside the Tax Authority's intelligence unit and Hadera police. Ohana had been hiding in a hotel suite far from his home, where he allegedly continued managing shell companies and associates involved in the scheme.

Authorities tracked Ohana's location using technological means and detained him in his hotel room last Thursday. A search of the suite uncovered computers, mobile phones, and lawyers' stamps suspected of being used to forge documents, along with other incriminating evidence. The investigation also revealed that Ohana's son attempted to destroy evidence by burning documents and stamps on a barbecue and using a garden hose to wash away additional proof at their home weeks earlier.

The son was arrested but later released under restrictive conditions. Meanwhile, the Beersheba Magistrate's Court extended Ohana's detention until August 13, 2026, as the investigation continues. This case highlights ongoing efforts by Israeli authorities to crack down on tax offenses involving fraudulent invoicing.
