Mercedes Unveils Third-Generation GLA Compact SUV Ahead of Israel Launch

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the third generation of its compact SUV, the GLA, which is based on the CLA platform and aligns with the brand's current design and technology language. The new GLA was showcased during the launch event for the new C-Class and is expected to arrive in Israel by the end of 2026.

The exterior design features the iconic Mercedes grille with a modern illuminated interpretation for the electric version and star emblems for the gasoline models. The vehicle is larger than its predecessor, measuring 4.56 meters in length, 1.87 meters in width, and 1.60 meters in height, with a longer wheelbase of 2.79 meters. The cargo space is slightly reduced to 410 liters but includes a 107-liter front trunk.

Inside, the cabin mirrors the CLA's design, highlighted by a "superscreen" combining three displays under one glass panel, including a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and two 14-inch screens for multimedia and passenger use. The new MB.OS interface supports app downloads, streaming services, and an AI voice assistant integrating ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini. Premium features include an electronically dimming panoramic roof with 172 stars, Burmester sound system with 16 speakers, 360-degree cameras, automatic parking, and memory for reverse driving.

At launch, the GLA will offer three electric powertrains using an 800-volt architecture. The base "200" model has rear-wheel drive, 224 horsepower, and a 58 kWh LFP battery providing 394-447 km range. The "250+" model also rear-wheel drive, delivers 272 horsepower with an 85 kWh NMC battery and a range of 577-657 km. The top "350 4Matic" model features all-wheel drive, 354 horsepower, and the same battery as the 250+, with a range of 555-643 km. Charging times vary from 3.5 to 9 hours for home charging and 20-22 minutes for fast charging from 10% to 80%.

Next year, Mercedes will add a "250" electric version with a 71 kWh battery and introduce gasoline models with mild hybrid 1.5-liter engines producing 156 and 184 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The GLA continues to offer AMG Line trims with sporty interior details and advanced driving modes, including an off-road setting for the all-wheel-drive variant.
