Former Footballer Yaakov Boazgalo Proudly Declares Left-Wing Views Ahead of Israeli Elections

As Israel approaches its election period, many public figures remain silent about their political views, possibly fearing career repercussions or public disinterest. However, former footballer and head of the Boazgalo family, Yaakov Boazgalo, broke this trend by openly declaring on Wednesday that he is "not ashamed to be left-wing." He emphasized that believing in values such as equality, democracy, human rights, social responsibility, and striving for peace should not be a cause for apology. Boazgalo lamented that in the past, being left-wing was not stigmatized, but over time many have become hesitant to identify as such. He stressed that true democracy requires a diversity of opinions and the courage to express them.

Recently returned to Israel after living a year in Georgia with his wife Hani, Boazgalo expressed political support for the "Democrats" party led by Yair Golan, calling it a "winning team" and framing his post as a balanced yet sharp political statement that upholds freedom of expression and democracy without attacking opposing views. Notably, his son Maor Boazgalo recently indicated he would likely vote for Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, despite not being very interested in politics. In a recent interview, Maor praised Netanyahu's leadership skills and dismissed controversies such as receiving cigars from friends as irrelevant distractions.

This family dynamic highlights a pluralistic approach to politics within the Boazgalo household, with Yaakov advocating for left-wing values and Maor leaning right, reflecting the broader political diversity in Israeli society.
