Ex-Soccer Star Yaakov Buzaglo Declares Pride in Being Leftist
Former Israeli soccer player and reality TV personality Yaakov Buzaglo has sparked controversy by publicly identifying as a leftist. Buzaglo, known as the father and manager of the famous Buzaglo brothers and star of the show "The Buzaglos," recently returned to Israel after living in Georgia for a year. In an interview with prominent journalist Guy Peleg, Buzaglo stated his refusal to be ashamed of his political views.
"It is inconceivable that I, as a leftist, would be ashamed of it and hide it, while the right-wingers come and declare themselves, when they themselves should be ashamed. I say this very clearly," Buzaglo asserted. He elaborated on his stance when Peleg asked what the right-wingers should be ashamed of.
Buzaglo responded, "Oh, in many things. How the country is run, and despite that, they support it. I would be ashamed. Now you come, and you have a family. Father, mother, sister, aunt, uncle, all of whom are drafted into the army, and you support a person who does not enlist, I cannot say you should be ashamed. If you are not ashamed yourself, you have a problem, not me."
The interview, part of Guy Peleg's podcast produced by All In, featured Buzaglo discussing his political identity and his criticisms of those who support the country's current management while seemingly disregarding the sacrifices of those serving in the military.
