Druze Major General Kamil Abu Roken Joins Gadi Eizenkot's Yashar Party

Retired Major General Kamil Abu Roken, a prominent Druze figure and former Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) and head of the Civil Administration, has joined the Yashar party led by Gadi Eizenkot. Abu Roken, a resident of Isfiya, served in various key security roles for over 30 years, including deputy COGAT during the Second Intifada and later as head of the Civil Administration. After retiring from the IDF, he held positions in the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Defense, and Prime Minister's Office, leading national security projects.

In 2018, Abu Roken returned to military service, was promoted to Major General, and reassumed the role of COGAT. He concluded his four-decade career in 2021, during which he played a central role in coordinating efforts between the political leadership, IDF, and Shin Bet, and was a key figure in combating Palestinian terrorism. He also chaired the Druze Heritage Center in Israel.

The Yashar party praised Abu Roken as a respected leader within the Druze community, committed to strengthening the Israeli-Zionist alliance. They highlighted his deep understanding of Middle Eastern security challenges and his ability to identify regional opportunities. Abu Roken is described as a principled, courageous, and sharp individual with extensive security experience.
