Backlash After Shikma Bressler Slams Jerusalem Faction Protests

The story · English

Shikma Bressler, one of the leading figures in the protest movement against the judicial overhaul, triggered an online storm this evening after sharply attacking the Jerusalem Faction demonstrations that paralyzed roads in central Israel today. In a post on X, Bressler wrote, “There is no difference between the ultra-Orthodox militias of the regime on the roads, for whom the law means nothing, and the militias of the regime in Judea and Samaria.”

“Nor should one get angry. One needs to understand who they are. What they want (a dark religious state). And then understand that we are in a struggle for the very breath of the state,” Bressler added. But online users quickly reminded Bressler of the judicial overhaul protest period, when she, יחד with other activists, led a series of demonstrations that included widespread road blockages, traffic disruptions, and the shutdown of major transport arteries for long weeks.

“No, can you be any more clueless? You can be stupid, but this much? Did you forget Kaplan and what you did here?” one user wrote. Another user mocked, “Oh, so suddenly the leftists discovered the law? The same ones who burned the country in Balfour and Kaplan are now preaching against road blockages.” Another response, which went especially viral, asked, “Unbelievable arrogance. Aren’t you the one who yourself called for disrupting roads?”

Bressler’s post comes against the backdrop of Jerusalem Faction protests held this evening at several central locations, in protest over the arrest of yeshiva students and their transfer to the army. The protests caused heavy traffic congestion and blocked major routes in the Gush Dan and central Israel area.
