Shikma Bresler’s First Response to the Legal Drama
Protest leader Professor Shikma Bresler sharply attacked the prime minister’s circle following the prosecution’s decision to seek restrictive conditions for Netanyahu’s adviser, Yonatan Urich, including a demand that he be kept completely away from the Prime Minister’s Office and from any security facility, a demand that was ultimately rejected by the court. In a pointed post she published, Bresler linked the Urich case to what she described as a series of failures and deliberate harms to national security by the political leadership and its entourage over the years.
"They harm without blinking," Bresler wrote at the start of her remarks, accusing them of damaging the state’s security “knowingly, deliberately and without blinking,” and citing a series of incidents and people: "This is Gottlieb. This is Urich. This is draft dodging when the army is crying out for soldiers. This is firing a defense minister who warns about harm to security."
Later in her comments, Bresler criticized the conduct that led to the severe security incidents, and referred to policy toward the Gaza Strip and Egypt: "This is saying people are exaggerating when they warn of war. This is building and financing Hamas with millions. This is allowing advanced submarines to Egypt behind the backs of the security establishment."
