Protest Leader Shakes Head at Israeli Political Chaos

Shikma Bressler, a prominent leader of the anti-government protest movement, expressed dismay on Wednesday at the current political climate, particularly within the right-wing bloc. She listed a series of perceived absurdities, including "Tali Gottlieb's madness," "Feiglin's feet," "that thing broadcast with the wife of the prime minister of the massacre," "Der'i's threats," "we will not enlist," "Regev's diamonds," "hiding the truth and lies of Kish," and "suitcases of money for Hamas because he is an asset," along with "threats against England." Bressler questioned the kind of country Israelis want to live in.

Her comments come as the political landscape sees significant developments. Yesterday, Bezalel Smotrich, chairman of the Religious Zionism party, and Moshe Feiglin, chairman of the Zehut party, officially announced an alliance for upcoming elections. They agreed to run together under a technical bloc, maintaining each party's distinct identity, path, and principles. The joint statement emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming elections for the "national camp" and the need to prevent the loss of right-wing votes.

Smotrich stated that the election is crucial for the future of the national camp and Israel, with issues like security, settlement, the justice system, preventing a Palestinian state, and enacting major changes at stake. He stressed the responsibility to unite forces and expand the camp. Prime Minister Netanyahu welcomed the union and urged other parties to consolidate to avoid wasting votes for the right-wing bloc.
