The story · English

During a nationwide traffic enforcement operation targeting severe violations and reckless driving, Israeli police apprehended a Palestinian truck for the second time in recent months due to a critical brake system failure. The operation, conducted by the Judea and Samaria district police, ran from early morning until night and focused on life-threatening offenses such as mobile phone use while driving, speeding, traffic light violations, and vehicle safety compliance.

The truck was stopped by a patrol officer who discovered it bore counterfeit license plates and had previously been removed from the road for safety defects. A thorough inspection revealed an air leak in the brake system identical to the prior issue, posing a lethal risk. Police described the vehicle as a "loaded gun on the road" due to this malfunction. The driver faced legal proceedings, had his license suspended for 30 days, and the truck was impounded and towed.

Throughout the day, officers issued 367 citations, including 54 for mobile phone use, 49 from tactical cameras, 13 for ignoring traffic signals, and 11 for speeding. Additionally, 51 citations addressed vehicle defects, with 39 vehicles removed from the road for serious faults. As part of the "White Line" district campaign, 26 drivers had their licenses revoked for 30 days due to major violations. Police emphasized their ongoing commitment to reducing fatal traffic accidents by enforcing compliance with traffic laws year-round.
