Israeli Police Stop Palestinian Minor Driving 15-Ton Crane Truck on Highway 60

Israeli police officers from the Mitzpe Yair checkpoint near Hebron stopped a Palestinian crane truck weighing approximately 15 tons on Highway 60 on Tuesday morning. The driver was initially flagged for not wearing a seatbelt. Upon inspection, officers discovered that the driver was a Palestinian minor, about 17 years old, who had never obtained a driving license. The truck was also found to be operating without a valid tachograph and proper permits.

The minor was taken into custody for further criminal and traffic investigation at the police station. The police emphasized the severe danger posed by an unlicensed minor driving a heavy vehicle on a busy main road, calling it a "ticking time bomb" that endangered all road users. Thanks to the officers' vigilance over a relatively minor traffic violation, a potential serious accident was averted.

Following a hearing by a police officer, the truck was administratively impounded for 30 days. Video footage released by the police shows the minor in custody and the large white truck stopped by the roadside. The incident highlights ongoing enforcement efforts to ensure road safety in the West Bank area under Israeli jurisdiction.
