Israeli Police Arrest 15-Year-Old Palestinian Driving on Route 60 with Relative's Permission

Israeli police stopped a vehicle near the Sa'ir-Halhul junction on Route 60 in the West Bank and discovered a 15-year-old Palestinian boy driving, despite never having obtained a driver's license. The boy, a resident of Sa'ir, was accompanied by a 30-year-old relative who admitted to allowing the minor to drive, stating he wanted the boy to learn how to drive. The incident occurred during a traffic enforcement operation by the Judea district traffic police as part of the "White Line" campaign targeting serious traffic violations.

Following the stop, police initiated a traffic proceeding against both individuals. After an on-site hearing, the adult relative's driver's license was revoked, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Judea district traffic officer Chief Inspector Michael Avraham condemned the actions, highlighting the double offense and the danger posed to other road users by an unlicensed minor receiving driving lessons from an unqualified adult. He emphasized the strict policy against severe traffic violations and justified the administrative measures taken.

This case underscores ongoing enforcement efforts in the West Bank to prevent dangerous driving practices and protect public safety on key roads like Route 60.
