Israel Appoints Yonatan Peled as Ambassador to UN Mission in Geneva

The Israeli government has unanimously approved Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar's proposal to appoint Yonatan Peled as Israel's ambassador to the United Nations mission in Geneva. This decision follows the endorsement of the Cabinet Committee for Foreign Service Appointments, chaired by Sa'ar. Peled currently serves as Israel's ambassador to Italy and non-resident ambassador to San Marino, a position he has held since September 2024.

Yonatan Peled has an extensive diplomatic career, including senior roles within the Foreign Ministry. He previously served as Deputy Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, ambassador to Mexico, and non-resident ambassador to the Bahamas and Belize. Additionally, Peled was ambassador to El Salvador, spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, spokesperson at the Israeli embassy in Washington, and director of departments focused on economics, North America, and Africa. He also acted as a political advisor to the Knesset Speaker and the Foreign Minister.

The appointment to the UN mission in Geneva marks the next step in Peled's diplomatic career, reflecting his broad experience in international relations and government service.
