European airlines experienced a wave of emergency landings this week due to widespread bomb threats on passenger planes, marking the second such incident in a week. Several flights were diverted and landed at alternate airports, with some aircraft escorted by fighter jets. As of the report's publication, none of the threats had been substantiated.

An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome was diverted to the Evreux airbase in Normandy, France, following a bomb threat. A Finnair flight from Helsinki to Rome landed in the Italian capital under fighter escort. Another Jettime flight from Helsinki also landed safely in Vienna after a similar threat, according to Finnair.

In Bulgaria, three passenger planes made forced landings after bomb threat reports. Two flights from Copenhagen and Madrid landed in Sofia, while a third from London was rerouted to Plovdiv, where it landed safely. Polish airline LOT reported that a flight from Warsaw to Brussels landed safely at its destination after a security warning, with no suspicious items found. Another LOT flight bound for Paris was halted on the tarmac before takeoff, and passengers were transferred to a different aircraft as a precaution.

An Italian media report indicated a Wizz Air flight from Milan to Warsaw made an emergency landing in Vienna due to a bomb threat. No group has claimed responsibility for the threats, which come amid accusations by European authorities against Russia and Iran for orchestrating hybrid attacks, allegations both countries deny. Eliran Almog, head of the Israeli company Cyviation, suggested these incidents might aim to disrupt air travel and test the response capabilities of airlines, airports, and government agencies. Previously, a LOT flight from London to Warsaw was forced to land at Modlin Airport near Warsaw due to a bomb threat.
