Beitar Jerusalem Coach Reflects on Draw, Prepares for Tiberias Clash

Beitar Jerusalem coach Almog Cohen expressed disappointment following the team's 1-1 draw against Ironi Kiryat Shmona, stating that losing two points at home was unacceptable. Cohen noted that while the team created many attacking opportunities in the first half, they lacked sharpness in the final actions. He emphasized that the team needs to be more decisive in the opponent's penalty area, which has been a focus of training throughout the week.

Cohen criticized the team's slow play in the second half, saying it felt like they wanted the game to end, a mentality he stressed cannot happen. He indicated that discussions about the game's conclusion were excessive and that the team's focus should be inward. Looking ahead to their upcoming match against Ironi Tiberias, Cohen acknowledged Tiberias's strong performances against top teams and expressed respect for their capabilities, anticipating a difficult game on a challenging pitch.

He reiterated that the team generates a high expected goals (xG) and reaches the opponent's box frequently but needs to improve the quality and sharpness of their final actions. The team has been working extensively on one-on-one situations, plays within the box, and proper passing and patience. Cohen also reflected on the team's improvement since the first two difficult matches of the season, which he found particularly concerning due to poor performance and a significant goal difference deficit.

Despite being suspended and unable to manage from the sidelines, Cohen confirmed that professional preparations for the Tiberias match are underway, with team meetings scheduled at the hotel. He expressed confidence that the players, along with assistant coaches Moshe and Aviram and the rest of the staff, will be well-prepared for the game.
