Beitar Jerusalem is preparing for their upcoming match against Ironi Kiryat Shmona on Saturday at 3:00 PM. Head coach Almog Cohen expressed satisfaction with the team's recent defensive performance, noting three consecutive games without conceding a goal. However, he highlighted areas needing improvement, particularly in the final attacking third.
Cohen acknowledged the strength of their opponent, stating, "We give a lot of respect to Kiryat Shmona. They played very good and quality football, and did not get the results they should have." He emphasized the team's focus on thorough preparation to secure a victory. Addressing the perception that top teams easily gain points, Cohen countered, "I don't think the situation is like that. Any team in the league, if you don't come to them with maximum readiness, can embarrass you and beat you."
Regarding the defense, Cohen stated, "I think our defensive game has improved a lot." He believes that applying more pressure higher up the field will limit opponents' chances. "The moment everyone emphasizes this, the team looks strong and good. I am sure we will score many more goals," he added.
The team has adjusted training times to acclimate players to the unusual match hour. Cohen also discussed the offensive play, noting the team creates many chances but still lacks the "final pass and the final dribble," which he feels has not yet been fully integrated.
Despite the areas for development, Cohen praised his players' attitude, saying, "I think the team looks strong and proactive, and comes to every field to win the game. That is very important to me."
