Jerusalem police thwarted a sophisticated car theft attempt early Tuesday morning in the Beit Hakerem neighborhood, arresting two suspects. A patrol team from the Moriah station apprehended the individuals around 3:00 AM as they were attempting to steal a vehicle. Officers noticed a car parked in the dark with its lights off for an extended period and decided to block it with their patrol car. Upon inspection, they discovered a shattered small front window. A male suspect, wearing a prayer shawl (tallit) in an apparent attempt at disguise, was in the driver's seat, with a female suspect beside him. A car computer, used for starting vehicles, was found on the back seat. The officers immediately moved in and arrested both individuals. During the arrest, the car computer, a duplicated key, and a mobile phone belonging to the male suspect were seized. Additionally, a substance suspected to be cannabis was found in the female suspect's bag. The suspects, aged 35 to 40 and residents of Jerusalem and Afula, were brought before a judge.
