Car Theft Attempt Foiled in Jerusalem Neighborhood; Suspect Disguised

Jerusalem police thwarted an attempted car theft in the Beit Hakerem neighborhood early Tuesday morning. Around 3:00 AM, a patrol unit from the Moriah station noticed a car parked in the dark with its lights off, raising their suspicion. When officers approached, they discovered a shattered front window and found a male suspect inside, wearing a "tzitzit" (ritual garment) in an apparent attempt to conceal his identity. A female suspect was also present in the vehicle. Officers found a car computer and a duplicate key on the back seat. The two suspects, residents of Jerusalem and Afula in their thirties and forties, were arrested at the scene. During the arrest, the car computer, a duplicate key, and the male suspect's Arabic-language mobile phone were seized. A court ordered their detention extended until November 8, 2026, to allow for further investigation and legal proceedings.
