IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Operations Chief Who Held Hostage

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced Tuesday the elimination of Gamal Abu Sa'id, identified as the head of the Operations Department in Hamas's military intelligence. The joint operation, which took place earlier this week in Gaza City, also targeted Abu Sa'id's role in holding Israeli hostage Omer Shem Tov during the recent conflict. Abu Sa'id had held various senior positions within Hamas over the years, including training military operatives outside Gaza, commanding an anti-tank missile battalion, and overseeing military specializations within the Central Camps Brigade. He was also responsible for Hamas's connections with foreign countries and served as a significant knowledge source for the organization. The IDF stated that Abu Sa'id was actively promoting terrorist plans against Israeli forces and civilians and working to restore Hamas's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire. The airstrike was conducted to neutralize the threat he posed, and security forces remain deployed to address any further threats.
