  • The company's platform detects cyberattacks missed by existing security systems.
  • It simulates attack telemetry to test and improve security tool detection capabilities.
  • Founded in 2024 by Idan Batshri and Itay Gabay, both with military intelligence backgrounds.
  • The funding will help Brava enhance its AI-driven threat detection technology.

Israeli cybersecurity firm Brava Security has successfully raised $15 million in a seed funding round led by venture capital firms Pitango and F2, with participation from private investors, including senior figures from Anthropic, Microsoft, and Check Point. The company is developing a platform designed to help organizations detect sophisticated cyberattacks that current security systems might miss.

Brava's technology works by teaching security tools and AI agents how a specific attack would manifest within an organization's unique environment. It identifies gaps in detection capabilities, rectifies them, and assists security teams in investigating incidents. The platform simulates the telemetry data that a cyberattack would leave behind without actually executing the attack, thereby testing the security systems' ability to detect even novel threats.

The company was founded in 2024 by CEO Idan Batshri, a graduate of the Talpiot program and a former cyber threat researcher in Unit 8200, and CTO Itay Gabay, who served in the IDF developing AI systems, including in a joint US-Israel research program with DARPA. Batshri previously managed a product line at Microsoft Defender, where he observed the challenges security teams faced with limited data access during incident investigations.

Brava's platform verifies if security systems generate alerts as expected. When attacks are missed, it updates detection rules, corrects deficiencies in activity data collection and forwarding to SIEM systems, and ensures these fixes are effective. The company currently employs around 20 people, including AI and cyber researchers, with its R&D center in Israel and an expanding marketing and sales team in the US.

"Organizations are rushing to let AI manage their cyber centers, but AI operating on unverified evidence can reach wrong conclusions and act on them at machine speed," explained Batshri. "If systems missed an attack, the AI won't know to investigate it. We check what they are missing and fix the gaps." Yair Kussuto of Pitango added, "AI is dramatically changing the cyber threat landscape and how organizations are attacked, so the way we protect them must also change."
