Massive Law Enforcement Operation in Umm al-Fahm Leads to 47 Arrests

A large-scale, integrated law enforcement operation was conducted in Umm al-Fahm, aimed at combating crime and violence and ensuring normal life for citizens. The operation was led by the Israel Police and the Prime Minister's Office's staff for combating crime in Arab society, with cooperation from the Tax Authority, the State Attorney's Office, the Shin Bet, and other government ministries and civilian enforcement bodies.

During the operation, millions of shekels were seized, including funds suspected of being obtained through criminal activity, as well as debt payments owed to state bodies. The total amount seized is estimated to be in the tens of millions of shekels, with counting still ongoing. Additionally, 11 vehicles valued at over 3 million shekels were confiscated, some designated for forfeiture and others belonging to individuals with tax debts.

The operation involved searches and seizures in dozens of businesses. Forty-seven suspects were arrested or detained on suspicion of money laundering, income concealment, and employing or harboring illegal infiltrators. Furthermore, tens of kilograms of suspected counterfeit cigarettes and tobacco, and over three tons of meat unfit for human consumption, were seized.

Described as nationally significant for addressing crime in Arab society, the operation deployed hundreds of police officers and Border Police officers, alongside representatives from various authorities and civilian organizations. They were spread throughout Umm al-Fahm to conduct targeted enforcement against criminals and crime instigators who harm law-abiding residents.
