Hapoel Haifa has been handed a transfer ban by FIFA, reportedly due to allegations that the club induced player Ofek Biton to break his contract with his previous Ukrainian team. The club's General Manager, Itay Rak, called the decision "unclear and puzzling," stating that the Ukrainian team was responsible for proving the alleged inducement.
Rak asserted that Hapoel Haifa acted legally, with the player having finished his contract on August 18, 2025, and club negotiations commencing on September 1, 2025. The club has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and expects the ban to be reversed within days.
The club maintains that they were guided by legal counsel throughout the process and that the burden of proof for inducement lay with the Ukrainian team.
