Israel's Ministry of Health is monitoring two individuals suspected of contracting the Ebola virus. Both patients recently returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo and subsequently developed fevers. One individual has been admitted to Sheba Medical Center in Tel a-Shomer, while the second is at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. Both are currently in isolation pending laboratory test results. The ministry emphasized that these are only suspicions and no confirmed Ebola cases have been reported in Israel. An epidemiological investigation is underway to identify potential contacts. The ministry advises individuals who have recently traveled from the Democratic Republic of Congo and experience a fever above 38 degrees Celsius or unusual symptoms within 21 days of their return to self-isolate, avoid contact with others, and call the health hotline *5400. They are instructed not to visit medical facilities without prior coordination. Due to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in Congo, the ministry also recommends avoiding travel to affected areas within the country and postponing non-essential trips to neighboring nations. Ebola is transmitted through direct contact with bodily fluids of an infected person showing symptoms, contaminated objects, or infected animals.
