The Military Advocate General's Unit has filed a serious indictment against an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier suspected of spying for Iranian intelligence for approximately one year. The soldier, arrested in September during a joint operation by security and military investigation agencies, is accused of providing sensitive information about military bases, readiness statuses, interceptors, and commanders. His detention has been extended until November 12, 2026.

According to a joint statement from the Shin Bet, Israel Police, and IDF Spokesperson's Unit, the charges include intentionally conveying information to an enemy to harm state security, providing information for the enemy's benefit, and contact with a foreign agent. The investigation revealed the soldier was aware his handler was Iranian and received payments in cryptocurrency. He allegedly provided details on his unit's activities, military readiness, and his personal deployment during Operation "Iron Sword."

Further allegations state the soldier photographed interceptors, military vehicles, and American refueling planes stationed in Israel. He is also accused of sharing information about his fellow soldiers and commanders, with the intent of facilitating their recruitment by Iranian intelligence. The handler reportedly instructed the soldier to install malicious communication apps for encrypted calls and offered him $200,000 to travel to Iran.

Security agencies described the case as extremely severe and urged the public to remain vigilant against suspicious approaches from unidentified individuals. They emphasized that any suspicious contact, information requests, or payment offers from unknown sources must be reported to security authorities. The agencies vowed to continue efforts to thwart espionage and terrorism and to prosecute those who aid enemies or endanger national security.
