The incident occurred on Tuesday, election day, after four youths attempted to take confetti items from the "PartyLand" store without paying. When the clerk refused their request, the teens allegedly began harassing her, repeatedly opening and closing the store's door. One of the youths then grabbed confetti and fired it directly into the clerk's face.
The entire incident was captured on the store's security cameras, and the footage circulating on social media shows one of the teens activating the confetti towards the employee's face. The clerk described the experience as "frightening" and reported experiencing a "terrible burning" sensation in her eye, leading to blurred vision and redness. She was treated by Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and described herself as being in hysterics due to the pain.
The store owner condemned the act, stating, "There is no place for violence at any age and in any form, neither towards customers nor towards our dedicated employees." He emphasized the need to end violence and impatience and vowed to take all necessary measures to ensure a safe environment in their stores. Due to the incident, the store closed early, incurring financial losses.
A police complaint has been filed regarding the incident. As of the report, it was not confirmed whether any of the involved teenagers had been identified or questioned.
