Nusimovich, now 68, is accused of traveling to Israel on March 31, 2004, and fatally shooting Andrey Chernyavsky. Investigators allege the motive was a dispute over 200 million rubles, equivalent to approximately $7.7 million, which Nusimovich claimed Chernyavsky owed him. According to the indictment, Nusimovich purchased a weapon, brought it to Israel with an accomplice, and waited for the victim before firing at least seven shots into Chernyavsky's head. Both men then returned to Russia. The accomplice reportedly died in 2015.
Nusimovich faces charges under Article 105, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code, pertaining to murder by an organized group for hire. The trial is expected to commence soon in the St. Petersburg District Court. Russian investigative bodies stated in October 2024 that they had reviewed the case with Israeli law enforcement.
