  • Shas party may finish the 26th Knesset elections with only six seats, a historic low.
  • United Torah Judaism is leading Shas in vote count by over 18,000 votes.
  • Both Shas and United Torah Judaism currently stand at seven Knesset seats each.
  • The current results may signal a shift in power between the two ultra-Orthodox parties.
  • Shas's potential outcome is its worst result since the 1992 elections.

Following the 26th Knesset elections, the ultra-Orthodox parties are experiencing significant political shifts. United Torah Judaism (UTJ) is currently leading Shas in vote count, raising concerns within Arieh Deri's party about potentially finishing the election with only six Knesset seats. As of the latest updates, with approximately 85.6% of votes tallied, both parties stand at seven seats each.

However, United Torah Judaism has secured a clear advantage in the number of votes, accumulating 276,498 compared to Shas's 257,898, a difference of 18,600 votes. The fear within Shas is that upon completion of the vote count, the party could lose another seat, ending up with just six mandates. If this scenario materializes, it would represent Shas's lowest result since the 1992 elections, when it also won six seats.

Beyond the number of seats, UTJ's lead in the vote count may signal a change in the balance of power between the two ultra-Orthodox parties. While Shas has enjoyed an electoral advantage over UTJ in recent years, the current results indicate a different dynamic.
