Pavel Nedvěd, a legendary Czech footballer and current professional manager of the Czech national teams, has revealed efforts to recruit Israeli wonderkid Orrian Goren to play for the Czech Republic. Goren, 17, who grew up in Barcelona and was recently included in the senior team's squad for El Clásico, holds Czech citizenship.
Nedvěd stated that he and his coaching staff have been in contact with Goren and his family, offering him a "big" opportunity. He believes Goren has the potential to play for the senior Czech team immediately, a significant offer considering Goren is still eligible for youth national teams. "We think he already has the ability to play for our senior team right now," Nedvěd said.
Despite the Czech offer, sources close to Goren and his family indicate that the player himself prefers to represent Israel, his father's homeland. Goren has consistently participated in training camps for Israel's youth national teams since moving to Barcelona at age 14.
Senior national team coach Ran Ben Shimon is reportedly considering calling Goren up for Israel's upcoming Nations League matches next month. If Goren plays for Israel's senior team, he would be ineligible to represent the Czech Republic in the future.
