Israeli player Dani Avdija was a key contributor in the Portland Trail Blazers' 136-129 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Despite facing challenges including four fouls by halftime and a strong performance from Luka Dončić, Avdija played a crucial role in the win, scoring important baskets in the final quarter and assisting Damian Lillard on a go-ahead three-pointer.

Avdija finished the game with 23 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and a steal in 33 minutes. He shot 8-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, but went 3-of-7 from the free-throw line. His performance included a significant play with 43.1 seconds remaining, where he drew the defense and found Lillard open for a three that extended Portland's lead to 135-129, effectively sealing the victory.

Earlier in the game, Avdija hit a three-pointer to make it 114-106 and later secured an offensive rebound and scored a crucial basket to regain the lead for Portland after the Lakers had tied the game at 116-116. The game remained close until the final minutes, with Avdija and Lillard exchanging baskets with Dončić and Ziaire Williams before a late surge by Jah Morant and the Avdija-Lillard connection secured the win.

Avdija's second half was particularly impactful after a challenging first half where he accumulated four fouls. He scored seven quick points in the second quarter to reach double digits but had to sit out due to foul trouble. The Lakers led 73-68 at halftime, with Dončić already having 24 points. Despite the foul situation, Avdija returned to influence the game, supported by strong performances from Morant (23 points), Jrue Holiday (22 points), and Lillard (21 points).

For the Lakers, Dončić led all scorers with 41 points and nine assists, but it wasn't enough to secure a win after his 52-point performance two days prior. The Trail Blazers, who have now won three consecutive games, will host Memphis next. The Lakers' loss snapped a three-game winning streak.
