Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Katash Calls Loss to Red Star Belgrade "Embarrassing"

Maccabi Tel Aviv's coach, Oded Katash, expressed deep disappointment following his team's crushing 100-78 defeat to Crvena Zvezda Belgrade in the EuroLeague on Tuesday. The loss marks Maccabi's third in just five days across all competitions, dropping their EuroLeague record to 6-2. Katash described the performance as "a very bad evening, embarrassing," admitting that the team was outplayed from the start and quickly surrendered. He noted the players' poor body language and their tendency to give up easily after falling behind, a pattern he felt should have been addressed after their recent league game. "The responsibility is mine, ours as the professional staff, because mentally we weren't there," Katash stated, acknowledging the team's failure to match the urgency of the game. He also pointed to offensive struggles stemming from the early deficit and the team's deviation from their game plan. Despite efforts to salvage some pride in the second half, the game was already decided. This is the third time this season Maccabi has conceded 100 points or more in the EuroLeague, having allowed 113 to Real Madrid just five days prior. The team faces another challenge on Thursday against Paris.
