Israeli Soldier Loses Classified Phone That Ends Up in Syrian Hands Near Golan Heights

An Israeli Defense Forces soldier lost a classified and specially secured mobile phone during an operational activity in the sensitive buffer zone between Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights. The device, which is based on encrypted technology, is used by ground forces and intelligence units for real-time command, reporting, and situational awareness during combat and routine operations. The security risk posed by such a device falling into hostile hands is considered extremely high. It was later discovered that the phone did not remain in Israeli territory but was found and taken by local Syrian residents crossing the border.
