IDF Strikes Terrorist Near Golan Demilitarized Zone in Southern Syria

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted an airstrike on Saturday targeting a terrorist operative in southern Syria, near the demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights. According to the IDF, the individual was advancing a terrorist plot that was in advanced stages of preparation and posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces in the area.

The strike took place near the Damascus suburb of Beit Jin, southwest of the city, where a light truck was targeted. Israeli military sources confirmed the operation and emphasized the ongoing commitment to neutralize threats to Israeli soldiers and civilians.

The IDF spokesperson stated, "A short time ago, the IDF fired in southern Syria at a terrorist who was promoting terrorist plans in advanced stages of preparation. His activity constituted an immediate threat to our forces. The IDF will continue to act to remove any threat to IDF forces and the citizens of the State of Israel." This operation reflects Israel's continued vigilance against hostile activities near its borders.

Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir was also noted to be in southern Syria, underscoring the strategic importance of the area and the IDF's readiness to respond to emerging threats.
