Leading Rabbi Calls for Public Support to Aid Isolated Groom Facing Financial Hardship

Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, a prominent halachic authority, has issued a rare and explicit call for public assistance to support a young groom who is about to marry but lacks family backing and basic financial resources. The groom, from a broken family, faces his wedding day alone without parental support or guidance, struggling to cover essential expenses for establishing his new household in Israel.

The case, brought before Rabbi Sternbuch, reveals a deeply moving story of loneliness and hardship. Unlike his peers who enjoy family support, this groom has endured severe familial disruption and grown up in isolation, akin to an orphan. The period between his engagement and wedding, typically a joyful time, has become a severe test of resilience.

Recognizing the urgency, Rabbi Sternbuch instructed that the responsibility for the groom’s immediate needs be transferred to the charity organization Kuppat Ha'Ir. The charity’s leadership emphasized the public’s duty to step in where the parents have failed, providing the necessary financial support to ensure the groom can begin married life with dignity.

In a notable gesture, Rabbi Sternbuch publicly blessed all contributors, promising "a great blessing from the Holy One, blessed be He," and described the act of giving as a significant mitzvah. The public is now urged to donate 580 shekels each to help the groom overcome his financial difficulties and start his home without economic burdens.

This appeal has sparked widespread mobilization within the ultra-Orthodox community, highlighting the collective responsibility to support vulnerable individuals facing personal crises.
