Thousands of Haredi Jews gathered in southern Israel on Monday evening for election rallies featuring prominent rabbis, urging support for the Yahadut HaTorah party. The events, held in Ashdod and Netivot, aimed to mobilize voters ahead of upcoming elections.

The Rosh Yeshiva, a leading Rosh Yeshiva, addressed the crowd in Ashdod, emphasizing that voting for Yahadut HaTorah (marked with the letter Gimel) is a religious obligation crucial for protecting Torah institutions and nullifying harsh decrees against the community. He warned that supporting new parties not endorsed by rabbinic leadership could lead to a loss of identity within the Torah world.

Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch, another prominent Rosh Yeshiva, echoed these sentiments, cautioning against voting for alternative parties. He stated that a decline in votes for Yahadut HaTorah would be a desecration of God's name and could lead to negative consequences, including challenges to religious education and institutions. He warned of potential "destruction" if the opposing side gains power.

Other speakers included Rabbi B. Schreiber, who framed the gathering as a sanctification of God's name and a declaration of allegiance to the Torah. Moshe Gafni, chairman of the Degel HaTorah movement, and Yaakov Asher, chairman of Yahadut HaTorah, also spoke, urging voters to strengthen the party's position in the upcoming elections and to protect the Haredi way of life and Torah institutions.

The Rosh Yeshiva (referred to as Rabbi Y.Z. Feinstein in one instance) and Rabbi A. Pilz and Rabbi A. Levi, members of the Council of Torah Sages, also delivered messages emphasizing the importance of unity, adherence to rabbinic guidance, and the need to counter forces seeking to undermine religious values. The rallies were organized by Kontrol Productions.
