Mercedes Launches New Electric GLC Model as BMW Responds with Updated iX3

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new generation of its electric GLC SUV in Israel, offering three powertrain options and five trim levels. The base GLC 250 model features rear-wheel drive with 354 horsepower, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. It is equipped with an 85 kWh battery providing a declared range of 650 kilometers. Fast charging at 320 kW takes 22 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, while home charging with a 22 kW onboard charger requires nine hours for a full charge.

The mid-range GLC 300 4Matic offers all-wheel drive with 421 horsepower and a quicker 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds. It uses the same battery and charging times but has a shorter range of 616 kilometers. The top-tier GLC 400 4Matic delivers 489 horsepower, accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, and features a larger 94 kWh battery with a range of 663 kilometers. Home charging for this model takes 10.5 hours, and fast charging at 330 kW also lasts 22 minutes.

In comparison, BMW has launched a new entry-level version of its iX3 electric SUV. This model produces 320 horsepower, 34 less than the base Mercedes GLC, but matches its 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.9 seconds. The iX3 has a slightly smaller battery capacity of 82.6 kWh and a range of 634 kilometers, making it roughly comparable to the Mercedes base model in performance and range.

Mercedes offers the electric GLC in five trim levels: Icon, Elite, Elite AMG Line, Elite Plus Signature, and AMG Line Signature, with prices ranging from 440,000 to 640,000 shekels. The vehicles come with a three-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty, an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer battery warranty, and maintenance intervals every two years or 30,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
