Vance says U.S. and Iran will open direct talks through IRGC channel in Qatar

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said in an interview with the British site UnHerd that Washington and Tehran have agreed to set up a direct communication channel with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, aimed at reducing the risk of another flare-up in the conflict.

According to Vance, military officials from Iran and the United States will meet in Doha, Qatar, to resolve disputes and ease tensions. He said the arrangement is meant to handle disagreements before they escalate further.

Vance said the Iranians suggested the idea in these terms: “Okay, we’ll send someone from the Revolutionary Guard to stay in Doha with someone from U.S. Central Command, and that way we’ll solve many of these disputes.” He also said the United Arab Emirates has opened new communication channels with Iran.
