NASA selects Israeli satellite-imaging firm for commercial data contract

The story · English

ImageSat International (ISI) has signed a framework agreement with NASA to provide satellite imagery from its EROS and RUNNER constellation, in a contract running for two and a half years. NASA said the wider procurement, which includes additional suppliers, could total up to $476 million overall. The agency chose 14 providers of commercial satellite data to broaden the information available to researchers, government agencies and decision-makers.

Under the agreement, NASA may issue specific work orders from time to time, depending on its needs, up to the contract ceiling. However, the award does not guarantee any volume of orders beyond the minimum commitment in the deal, which is only $500.

ISI Chief Executive Noam Segal said the company was proud to be selected by NASA, describing it as one of the world’s leading space and research organizations. He said the choice reflects confidence in ISI’s technological capabilities, the quality of its satellite imagery and its experience serving government and institutional clients worldwide.

ImageSat, controlled by FIMI and Israel Aerospace Industries, operates several satellites built by IAI and by the company itself. It sells space-based imaging, intelligence analysis and, at times, the satellites themselves. The company is traded in Tel Aviv at a market value of 635 million shekels, after its stock fell 35% since the start of the year. Following the announcement, the shares jumped 8.5%.
