Satmar Rebbe Uses Relic of the 'Vayoel Moshe' During a Beloved Shabbat Gathering

Kikar HaShabbatReligious
Translated & summarized from Kikar HaShabbat by baba
The story · English

The Satmar Rebbe spent the latest Shabbat with hundreds of yeshiva students at an uplifting hasidic retreat at the Dovrei Yoel camp in the Catskill mountains. On Friday night, the students gathered for a special and emotional session in which they began studying the entire Talmud together in one continuous effort, and the Rebbe, moved by the scene, sat down and joined the joint learning with the young men.

During the event, Rabbi Yaakov Ber Teitelbaum, the Siget dayan and the Rebbe’s son, addressed the gathering. The Shabbat was described as a celebration of unity and inspiration for the students.

At the conclusion of Shabbat, during Havdalah, the Rebbe recited the blessing over spices and smelled the antique spice holder that had belonged to his uncle, the late Satmar Rebbe, author of Vayoel Moshe. The treasured object had come to him in the recent inheritance division that was distributed among the members of the royal family several weeks ago. The article marks this as an especially moving moment, taking place 47 years after the passing of the Vayoel Moshe.
