Satmar Rebbe Welcomes Hasidim in New Hampshire During Yahrzeit and Summer Retreat
The picturesque resort town in New Hampshire has transformed into a vibrant Hasidic hub as the Satmar Rebbe spends the summer there for rest. Thousands of Hasidim continuously arrive to greet the Rebbe and spend time in his presence during these special summer days. During this period, the Rebbe marked the yahrzeit of his righteous mother by praying at the ark and hosting a celebratory meal.
A notable part of the Rebbe's daily routine involves engaging with yeshiva students who come to town before Shabbat. These students present complex Torah questions the Rebbe had posed before his departure, leading to in-depth discussions that the Rebbe greatly appreciates. Emotional moments occurred as many parents brought their sons for their first tefillin laying by the Rebbe upon reaching bar mitzvah age.
On one occasion, students from the small yeshiva 'Derech HaTorah' attended morning prayers near the Rebbe's study, later peeking into his courtyard to observe his Torah learning. The Rebbe also held a special meal commemorating the yahrzeit of his grandfather, the 'Yismach Moshe,' with a group of senior yeshiva students. Footage shows the Rebbe studying diligently with his chavruta, Rabbi Yaakov Eliyahu Onsdorfer, head of "Rishit Chochma" in Montreal, as well as moments from the conclusion of Shabbat and the Rebbe's afternoon walk in the nearby meadows.
