Satmar Rebbe Flies to New Hampshire Resort After Leaving Challenging Talmudic Question for Yeshiva Students
The Satmar Rebbe departed this week for several weeks of rest in the New Hampshire resort town, but not before leaving his yeshiva students with a profound Talmudic question to ponder. As is his annual custom before his break, the Rebbe ascended to the main study hall and presented the students with a complex and deep question from the tractate they were studying. He tasked them with working on the Torah, seeking explanations, and sending their answers to him during his vacation.
Shortly after, the Rebbe flew by private plane to the resort town in New Hampshire. Accompanying him were his son-in-law, Rabbi Shimon Zev Meislish, and several close associates and family members. Upon arrival, the Rebbe was warmly greeted by his longtime chavruta (study partner), Rabbi Yaakov Eliyahu Onsdorfer, the Av Beit Din of "Rashit Chochma" in Montreal, who traveled specifically to spend time learning with the Rebbe during these weeks of rest.
