מטוס של חברת התעופה פליי דובאי, שהיה בדרכו מדובאי לתל אביב, שידר קוד חירום 7700 ולאחר מכן קוד 7500, המצביע על חשד לחטיפה. המטוס ביצע הנמכה ידנית וסיבוב לאחור, בעוד מטוסי קרב של חיל האוויר הוזנקו בעקבותיו. על פי דיווחים, ישראלים רבים נמצאים על המטוס, אשר לא יצר קשר מאז תחילת האירוע. ראש הממשלה ושר הביטחון קיימו התייעצות ביטחונית דחופה. גורם ביטחוני הבהיר כי אין מידע ודאי על חטיפה, וכי הטייס הפעיל אות מצוקה. בהמשך, המטוס נעלם מאפליקציות מעקב הטיסות והוסט לנחיתה בסעודיה.
