Rabbi David Cohen offers a special blessing for donors helping 69 orphan weddings

During the Hebrew month of Tammuz, 69 orphaned brides and grooms from the Haredi community are getting married, prompting a special fundraising appeal through Kupa Ha'ir. Officials said the unusually high number of orphan weddings, and the heavy financial burden they face without parental support, requires exceptional assistance to help pay for the weddings and the start of their new homes.

Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi David Cohen was approached with the situation and agreed to issue a rare public blessing for donors. According to the appeal, the goal is to ease the cost of these weddings for young couples who are building families while lacking the natural financial and emotional backing that parents usually provide.

In a written blessing, Rabbi Cohen said that anyone who donates 690 shekels, 10 shekels for each of the 69 couples, for the orphaned brides and grooms marrying in Tammuz 5786, will merit “Jewish joy from all their descendants” and “remarkable divine assistance in educating the children.” The campaign presents the blessing as a direct, measure-for-measure reward for helping the couples on their wedding day.

Kupa Ha'ir and Rabbi Cohen are urging the public to contribute according to the stated amount and support the 69 couples so they can marry with dignity and joy. The appeal says the donations will help cover urgent wedding expenses and give the couples a better start to married life.
