לקראת יום הכיפורים, השר לביטחון לאומי איתמר בן גביר קורא לציבור בעלי רישיונות נשק לשאת את נשקם האישי גם במהלך החג, כולל בזמן התפילות בבתי הכנסת. השר הדגיש כי יש לפעול בהתאם לחוק ובאחריות. בן גביר ציין כי מאז אירועי השבעה באוקטובר הונפקו כ-300 אלף רישיונות נשק חדשים, כחלק מהרפורמה שהוא הוביל. הוא הוסיף כי אף שקיימת פעילות של כוחות הביטחון, נשק אישי בידי אזרחים יכול לספק מענה במצבי חירום ולהציל חיים. השר איחל לציבור צום קל וגמר חתימה טובה.
