זקן רבני צרפת, רבי מרדכי אסרף, בן ה-90, הגיע לישראל בימי הרחמים והסליחות כדי לקיים מצוות כיבוד אם ולציין 21 שנים לפטירת אמו, הרבנית אסתר ע"ה. הרב אסרף, המשמש כאב בית דין וראש ישיבה בצרפת, עלה לקברה בהר המנוחות בירושלים, סמוך לקברו של מרן החיד"א. הגעתו לישראל לאחר שנים רבות של פטירתה של האם, וממרחק גיאוגרפי ניכר, מדגישה את עוצמת מצוות כיבוד הורים.

הרבנית אסתר ע"ה, שהלכה לעולמה בגיל 90, הייתה אישה צדקת נודעה. היא עלתה לארץ ישראל עם בעלה, רבי אברהם אסרף זצ"ל, והתגוררה בתל מונד לפני שקבעה את מושבה בבני ברק בשנותיה האחרונות. היא נודעה בצדקותה המופלגת ונהגה לצום בכל ערב ראש חודש.
