יושב ראש מפלגת "עמך ישראל", תת-אלוף במילואים עופר וינטר, הודיע כי הוא מוותר מראש על האפשרות שיוצב לו מערך אבטחה אישי על ידי השב"כ. ההודעה באה בעקבות החלטת ועדת השרים לענייני אבטחה, שהסמיכה את ראש השב"כ לבחון הצבת אבטחה אישית סביב ראשי המפלגות גדי איזנקוט, יאיר גולן ועופר וינטר. וינטר הבהיר בהודעה רשמית כי אינו מעוניין באבטחה צמודה, ואמר: "אני מספיק צעיר ומספיק חזק להגן על עצמי. אין לי צורך באבטחה, אנא חיסכו את הכסף לדברים חשובים יותר".
