Ofer Winter Declines Shin Bet Security Detail
Ofer Winter, chairman of the "Am Yisrael" party and a retired brigadier general, announced Thursday that he is preemptively waiving any possibility of receiving personal security from the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency). This decision follows a government committee's resolution from Wednesday, which authorized the head of the Shin Bet to assess and decide whether to provide security details for party leaders Gadi Eisenkot, Yair Golan, and Winter.
In an official statement released by his party, Winter clarified his stance, stating, "I am young enough and strong enough to protect myself. I do not need security, please save the money for more important things."
Winter's announcement indicates his refusal to accept the security measures that were being considered for him and other party leaders.
