Two importers recall electrical products over fire and shock risks
Two companies have announced recalls of electrical products sold in Israel after safety checks found defects that could cause electric shock or fire.
Harel (K.S.) Import and Marketing Ltd. said consumers should stop using the Hi-Tech wall charger, model K88, made in China, barcode 0704335780759. The charger, manufactured in 2022 and marketed until 09/02/2026, was found not to meet the requirements of Israel’s official standard. Inspectors identified faulty electrical insulation that could allow high voltage to pass to the device being charged, as well as a casing that is not fire-resistant if the unit overheats or suffers an electrical failure.
Anyone who has the charger is asked to stop using it immediately and return it to the place of purchase to receive a replacement or a refund.
A second recall was issued by Hashmal Yashir, Electric Equipment Marketing Network 2010 Ltd., for a light string, a garland with five E27 lamp holders, model PLS-2053000, barcode 7290120632066. Testing by Hermon Laboratories found that it also fails to meet the official Israeli standard. The defects include a cable shorter than required, missing protective caps for empty lamp holders, and lamp-holder casing that ignited during testing. Consumers who own the garland are also instructed to stop using it immediately.
