Recall Issued for TECHLINE Wall Charger Due to Electrocution Risk

Israeli authorities have issued an immediate recall for a specific TECHLINE wall charger model, citing significant safety concerns including risks of electric shock, short circuits, and fire. The product, model 2A-DU-F19F with barcode 6983536521987, manufactured in China, was found to be non-compliant with Israeli Standard 62368 Part 1, which governs safety requirements for audio/video, information technology, and communication equipment.

A thorough inspection conducted by Harmon Laboratories revealed multiple defects. The charger's casing and internal components lack adequate resistance to heat and fire, potentially leading to melting or ignition during normal operation or malfunction. Furthermore, the plug pins were found to be thicker than permitted by the standard, posing a risk of damage to outlets, exposure of live parts, and subsequent electric shock or short circuits. The internal transformer also lacked the required insulation, increasing the electrocution hazard.

The Supervisor of Standards at the Ministry of Economy and Industry is urging the public to cease using the charger immediately and has prohibited its sale. Consumers who possess the affected charger are advised to stop using it and await further instructions regarding its disposal or return.
