Immediate Recall Issued for Fluorescent Lamps Over Electrocution Hazard in Israel
The Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry has issued an urgent recall for a widely sold fluorescent lamp model due to a serious electrocution risk. The recall concerns T8 LED fluorescent lamps, 120 centimeters long, imported and distributed by Y. Patia Lighting Import and Marketing Ltd. These lamps, produced by Soti Limited in China, have been sold across Israel from July 2022 through November 2025.
The recall follows official safety testing by the Standards Institution of Israel, which found the lamps fail to meet the Israeli standard SI 62776 for LED lamps designed to replace linear fluorescent tubes. The tests revealed that electrical current is present on exposed pins and the lamp’s outer casing immediately upon partial installation, before full connection to the fixture. This defect creates a severe risk of electric shock during installation or handling.
Consumers are strongly advised to stop using the lamps immediately, disconnect power, carefully remove the lamps, and return them to the point of purchase. The Ministry’s announcement is part of ongoing product safety supervision efforts to protect the public from hazardous electrical products.
